Where our information comes from
Nothing on this site is written from opinion. Every guide and check is built from a named source that doctors themselves use, and you can see it on every page.
How a guide is built
- We take one public-health page on the topic, reviewed by clinicians and dated, and use its list of causes, its self-care advice and its 'see a doctor if' rules.
- The questions ask about exactly those causes and signs, in plain words, so the result can point to what fits you.
- Home remedies are added only when a review of studies or the source itself supports them, and we say how strong the evidence is.
- We never name a diagnosis, never suggest a medicine or a dose, and never invent a number. Urgent signs are shown at once, free.

- Heat on the tummy for period pain: review of six trials (Jo and Lee, Scientific Reports 2018) and NHS Period pain (18 Mar 2026).
- Heat wrap for low back pain: Cochrane review CD004750, moderate evidence of small short-term relief, better with exercise.

- Chamomile for sleep and anxiety: meta-analysis of trials (Hieu et al., Phytotherapy Research 2019), small improvements, mixed results.
- Inhaled lavender for anxiety: systematic reviews (Donelli et al. 2019; Kang et al. 2021) found a reduction in anxiety.
- Valerian for insomnia: reviews found it safe but did not show that it works, so we do not suggest it.
